AN ACT relating to peace officer training.
Create a new section of KRS Chapter 15 to specify that an elected jailer who was previously a certified peace officer retains such certification if he attends required in-service training by either the Department of Criminal Justice Training or the Department of Corrections; grandfather current elected jailers who have maintained training.
HB 131 - AMENDMENTS
HCS - Delete original provisions; create a new section of KRS Chapter 15 to specify how a jailer who is a former police officer may retain eligibility for KLEPF program funding when he or she returns to a police department following term of office as jailer. Jailer will not receive KLEPF funding during term of office of jailer.
HFA (1, C. Geveden) - Insert provision creating a new section of KRS Chapter 441 to require provision of personal hygiene items to jail prisoners.
HFA (2, C. Geveden) - Insert provision creating a new section of KRS Chapter 441 to require provision of personal hygiene items to jail prisoners.
HFA (3/Title, C. Geveden) - Make title amendment.
SFA (1, V. McGaha) - Amend KRS 15.380 to allow members of an auxiliary county police force to be certified, amend KRS 95.955 to require members of an auxiliary county police force appointed after the effective date of the act to receive 80 hours of basic training and 40 hours of annual in-service training, amend KRS 70.542 to require members of an auxiliary county police force, if not certified under KRS Chapter 15 to complete 80 hours of basic training dealing with criminal law, and the law of arrest, search, and seizure.
