"...a
richer and more beautiful country than this I believe has never been seen in
America." George Rogers Clark
We
want to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Kentucky Legislature's Web site for
students, where they or anyone else interested in learning more about the Kentucky General
Assembly can find a wealth of information.
In these pages you will learn the history of what is considered the people's branch of
government, the capitols that have served Kentucky since it became a state in 1792, and a
little about our most recent legislation. We have also included a photographic tour of the
two remaining capitol buildings and, for the younger viewers, a coloring book
picturing such things as the House and Senate chambers, and a guide to how a bill becomes
law.
We encourage you to take your time as you tour this important part of Kentucky's history.
We think you will enjoy what you find.
