STATUTORY AUTHORITY: KRS 156.035, 156.070, 156.160
NECESSITY, FUNCTION, AND CONFORMITY: This administrative regulation is needed to carry out the Congressional intent of the National School Lunch Act of 1946, the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 and all amendments thereto. Reconsideration and refiling of this administrative regulation is required pursuant to KRS 156.031.
Section 1. All local school districts shall determine the need for either a full-time or part-time school food service director. If a local board has determined such a need, then the position shall be staffed by the local superintendent.
Section 2. A local school food service director shall be responsible to the local superintendent of schools and shall work with principals, teachers, managers and other school food service personnel to plan, develop, administer, and supervise the school food services program on a district-wide basis.
Section 3. No person shall be eligible to hold the position of a district school food service director, or receive salary for services rendered in such position, unless he or she meets any certification requirements established by the State Board for Elementary and Secondary Education for this position.
