Employee photo Meet Keith Krey. He has interviewed Paul McCartney about songwriting and pitched questions to state lawmakers about tax reform. No matter the subject, the focus of Krey’s radio broadcasting career has always been on capturing his listeners’ interest. Krey spent the first two decades of his career as a DJ on radio stations throughout Kentucky, giving him a chance to chat with stars like McCartney, David Crosby, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, among others. For the past 14 years, his radio work has focused on covering action in the State Capitol. As LRC’s Audio Communications Specialist, Krey is responsible for producing legislative news reports that are distributed to radio stations across Kentucky. Krey said he enjoys giving listeners a connection to the work their lawmakers are doing at the State Capitol. “I like the fact that I’m working with individuals who are molding Kentucky’s future,’ Krey said. “I enjoy helping them get the message out about the issues they are working on. I feel at home doing that.” Krey’s success in his work has been acknowledged with eight awards from the Kentucky Association of Government Communicators, including five Awards of Excellence. His interests outside of work include golfing, fly fishing, playing guitar, Notre Dame football, and enjoying many of the same albums he played for listeners during his earliest days behind the microphone.
