Employee photo Meet Kate Talley. For someone who’s still relatively new here compared to veteran LRC workers, Kate Talley is no novice when it comes to doing a great job for the General Assembly. Part of the secret to her success since she started working at the agency about four years ago is Kate’s enthusiasm, whether in her day-to-day job as Committee Assistant for the Program Review and Investigations Committee or in her work involving the fiscal impact statement process in cooperation with Katie Carney during session. “We developed standard operating procedures, created checklists, and transferred the process to an online format. All of these improvements have really helped the process run smoothly and allowed Katie and me to work interchangeably.” Those who have stopped by Kate’s office during Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign (KECC) season to drop off loose change for Casual Mondays or take part in other KECC fundraisers are familiar with another of Kate’s LRC endeavors—her work as a member of the agency’s KECC Planning Committee. “We have worked really hard to develop different events that people will enjoy and that will bring in money for the campaign.” Outside the agency, Kate—a wife and mother of two boys, ages 11 and 9—enjoys spending time with her family and working with The Sunshine Center, a family violence prevention agency. Kate currently serves as center’s President after three years on its board of directors.
