Employee photo Meet Josh Allen.
Allen loves numbers and data. The LRC software engineer and database administration team member learned just how much he enjoys computer engineering years ago as a computer network associate at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, one of the largest federal science and energy labs in the country. “I’ve always had the mindset of working for a state/federal agency, to work for the people,” said the Oak Ridge, TN native. “Working for ORNL for 18 months only solidified that mindset.” Since joining the LRC through its Office of Computer Information Technology in 2008, Josh has built database applications and helped staff members manage their data. His busiest time at work is during legislative sessions —especially budget sessions. “Budget sessions can be truly hectic at times,” Josh said. “I’m helping Budget Review with their applications, I have daily assignments to keep the chambers up and running, I’m helping the clerks so they can create their reports for the floor which indirectly helps … create the (Legislative) Record as well.” When he’s not responding to LRC’s computer needs, Josh likes to contribute to the agency as team captain of the LRC State League golf team. Josh and his wife, LRC Committee Assistant for Education Maurya Allen, are also busy outside of work raising their toddler, James, who will soon be three years old.
