Employee photo Meet John J. Snyder. This veteran LRC staff member specializes in finding out exactly what lawmakers and others who visit his office hope to accomplish, and then seeing resulting assignments through to fruition. “I absolutely love this place,” said Snyder, the Committee Staff Administrator for Transportation. “Every day you can be a source of information for people,” he said. “Most of what we do is research and bill drafting. We make sure the committee runs smoothly. I have a really great staff who knows what they’re doing. I think the world of them.” Working for LRC is the first job Snyder landed out of graduate school. He began his LRC career in 1989 working on management audits for the Program Review and Investigations Committee. In May 1997, Snyder became an analyst with the Transportation Committee and in 2004 he advanced to his current position. He assists constituents with their quests to solve problems, along with collaborating with lawmakers. “My favorite thing to do is draft bills; finding out what that legislator really wants,” he said. Snyder has undergraduate and graduate degrees in political science from the University of Louisville. He is a member of the Frankfort Elks Lodge and lives in Frankfort with his wife, Martha. They have two children, William, 21, and Natalie, 18.
