Employee photo Meet Jennifer Lowery. Growing up on a farm on the Jessamine-Fayette County border prepared her well for the fast pace and demanding workload that comes with being a legislative staffer during a session of the Kentucky General Assembly. No matter how hectic things are around the Capitol, it’s never as hard as stripping tobacco or loading a hay wagon, she said. “Even though it may be crazy around here, I stay calm. It’s not as tough as shoveling mulch when it’s 90 degrees out with 100 percent humidity.” As a Legislative Assistant to three members of the Kentucky House of Representatives, Lowery’s assignments are varied, though fielding phone calls, maintaining calendars, and greeting visitors are part of her daily work. “It’s interesting here,” she said. “You get to meet a lot of different people.” Outside of work, her love of travel has taken her to Ireland twice and Germany once. Lowery, a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, has been married for 11 years to her husband, Matt. They have two sons: five-year old Benji, and seven-month-old Andrew.
