Employee photo Meet Anne Whalen. When Legislative Research Commission employees have a question about state health insurance, retirement, or many other human resources matters, Anne is often the person they call. The LRC Human Resources Specialist has been helping LRC staff answer their payroll, benefits and retirement questions for nine years. Before coming to LRC, Anne worked six years in human resources for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, two years as a judicial clerk with the Administrative Office of the Courts, and one year in document processing with the Kentucky State Police. “Working in payroll and benefits is very detailed oriented,” said Anne. “I really enjoy helping employees with their HR needs, and interacting with employees on a daily basis.” Her busiest time of the year is during legislative session when Anne said more employees are hired to meet the agency’s staffing needs. “It’s also very busy twice a month when payroll is processed and during health insurance open enrollment in October,” she said. Before starting work with state government, Anne worked with horses at Churchill Downs while attending the University of Louisville. Today, the Lawrenceburg native and 16-year cancer survivor enjoys spending time with her family, attending church, playing volleyball and taking aerobic dance classes.
